Sarbacane allows you to personalize the URL (hyperlinks) you use with the Personalized Tracking Service by using you own domain name and not the one which is used by default by all the users. This makes your communication more logical and your campaigns' efficiency and deliverability much better.

Why should you personalize your tracking URL?

The personalization of tracking URL optomizes the success of your campaigns. Indeed default URL which are given by the Personalized Tracking Service are not associated to you company name or your activity. These URL are generally in the form of trk.mailxx.com. These URL may be suspicious for your readers and for some anti-spam services too.

By personalizing your URL with your own domain name you reassure your readers and you are not mixed up with other users of this service anymore: your tracking is personalized.
This is a great advantage which will enhance the efficiency of your e-mailing campaigns.

How does the personalization of tracking URL work?

Before starting personalization of URL you should understand how it works. The service replaces your message's links with other links which point to a stats server. This server records the clicks and redirects the reader to the original link you have written in Sarbacane.

The personalization consists in adding an additional redirection from a page of your website to the Personalized Tracking Service. The principle is to keep the parameters which are attached to the URL from the e-mail up to the Tracking server. So the intermediate webpage takes only the role of a gateway: it keeps the parameters which are associated and redirects to the tracking url by copying the same parameters in the queue of URL.

How do you personalize your URL?
1) First, fill in just below your Sarbacane 2 software licence: (key with 4 blocks of 4 characters)
Key licence: (all characters without "-" or space, just letters)

2) Then create two webpages on your website. You can give them the name you want. These URL will be displayed instead of standard tracking URL. Files must have .PHP or .ASP extension: it depends on the type of server (Linux with Apache and PHP or Microsoft IIS with ASP).
