Behavioral tracking: what is the contact sheet?

The contact sheet is a summary of the activity report filtered on a given contact. You can thus see the events related to this contact in chronological order. You will also find all the campaigns recently received, as well as the links recently clicked by this contact.

How to access the contact sheet?

You have several options to access the contact sheet quickly:

  • Click on the contact's email address in the activity report. You will be redirected to his/her contact sheet.

  • Go to the "Contact Sheet" tab and enter the contact's email address in the search field, then press enter. Click on the desired email address in the list that appears. After a few seconds, the activity report of this specific contact will be displayed on the screen.

  • Click on an email address or phone number in your contact lists, recipient lists, or in your campaign behavioral tracking. You will be automatically redirected to the corresponding contact sheet.

Description of the sections of the contact sheet

The search field

The search field allows you to look for a contact by entering his/her email address or phone number to display his/her contact sheet. You will be able to see his/her activity towards your campaigns and evaluate his/her engagement.

The engagement score

On the right side of the search field, you will see a certain number of stars (or text in some special cases). This is the engagement score. Mailify's algorithms assign an engagement score, ranging from 0 to 5 stars, to each of your contacts depending on their interaction with your email and SMS campaigns.

For more information, we invite you to check out our section dedicated to the engagement score.

Chronological list of behavioral events

In the center of the contact sheet, you can see in chronological order the behavioral events ( open, click, unsubscribe, bounce, etc.) related to the researched contact.
The behavioral events shown are described later in this page.

Filters

Filters allow you to filter the display of events according to certain criteria.

The filters are described in more detail further down in this page.

Recent activities of the contact

This section allows you to quickly see the latest campaigns received by the contact as well as the latest links they clicked in your campaigns.

You can find more information about this further down on this page.

What kind of behavioral events are displayed in the contact sheet?

The contact sheet is a filtered view of the activity report for a specific email address or phone number. This sheet allows you to see in a precise, linear and chronological way the history of all the behavioral events related to your email and SMS campaigns for a specific contact.

NB: Each user only sees the events related to the resources (campaigns) to which he has access to.

List of events in the contact sheet

Below you will find the different types of behavioral events listed in the contact sheet:

  • Reception of an email or SMS campaign
  • Email or SMS campaign opening
  • Click on a link in an email or SMS campaign
  • Reply to an SMS campaign
  • Unsubscription after receiving an email or SMS campaign
  • Complaint after receiving an email or SMS campaign
  • Address or phone number classified as bounce after sending an email or SMS campaign

About opens and clicks

As you may have noticed in your campaign statistics, Mailify makes a difference between "Openers" and "Opens", and "Clickers" and "Clicks". Indeed, it is quite possible that a contact opens several times your campaign, or that he clicks several times on your campaign.

On the activity report as well as on the contact sheet, only the most relevant elements will be presented to you in the activity report, i.e. the first opening of your contact on a given campaign, and the first click of your contact on each link of this campaign.

Thus, if a contact opens your campaign several times, or if he/she clicks several times on the same link of your campaign, only one event will be displayed in your activity report and on the contact's sheet.

However, if you wish to have a detailed overview of these events, you can see the number of clicks and openings per contact in the "Behavioral tracking" section of your campaign statistics.

How to refine the display of the events listed in the contact sheet?

By default, all events related to all your contacts, across all campaigns, are listed in the contact sheet. You can refine the activity report display by using the menu on the top left of the page to filter the activity report by time period and/or by using the menu on the right of the page to filter the activity of the contact by channel, by campaigns, by tags, by links in your campaigns or by event type.

Let's have a closer look at each type of available filter.

Filter by period

You can refine the event history by selecting a time period. Only events that took place during this period will be displayed in the activity report.

To do so, a date picker, at the top left of your screen, allows you to choose the period of your choice.

There are several predefined choices available. You can also choose a personalized period and define yourself the start and end dates. By default, Mailify displays the events that took place over the last 30 days.

Filter by channel

Available in the menu on the right of the activity report, this filter allows you to display only the events related to one type of campaign (email or SMS).

Select the channel of your choice to display only the events from the chosen campaign type.

Filter by campaign

This filter allows you to display only the events from one or more campaigns.

Select the campaign(s) of your choice by checking the corresponding box(es) to display only the events from this selection of campaigns.

Filter by tags

As a reminder, Mailify allows you to assign tags to each of your campaigns to classify them according to a topic or category defined by you. Each campaign will thus be more easily identifiable. The tags allow, among other things, to filter the global statistics and the behavioral events of the activity report by tag.

Thus, in the contact sheet, you can select one or several tags to display only the behavioral events that took place on the campaigns that are associated to the selected tags. This allows you to refine by type of campaign by selecting the tags created by default by Mailify ("Email", "SMS" or "Automatic") or the tags that you have created yourself (in the example below "Automotive", "Black Friday", etc...)

Filter by links

This filter allows you to display only the clicks made on a link or a selection of links.

Select the link(s) of your choice by checking the corresponding box to display only the clicks made on these links.

Filter by event type

This filter allows you to select a single event type or a selection of several behavioral event types to be displayed in the contact sheet.

Select the event(s) of your choice by checking the corresponding box to display only the events of your choice. For example, you can choose to display only opens and clicks or only unsubscribes, complaints and bounces.

Basically, the contact sheet allows you to track the activity of a given contact. It will be particularly useful if you want to know if a specific contact has received, opened or clicked on a specific campaign or if you want to see quickly if a contact has unsubscribed from your campaigns.
