Why should I customize my domain?

Domain name customization has several advantages for your business:

  • Improve your reputation as a sender and drastically reduce the risk of spamming
  • Prevent identity theft and protect your image

Improve your reputation and the deliverability of your campaigns.

Originally, spam filters were based on the principle of the reputation of IP addresses. Blacklists of IP addresses considered "spammers" were created to detect spammers and filter their emails. Unfortunately, spammers have circumvented this rule by changing their IP address very frequently, making it virtually impossible to identify them.

To remedy this, ISPs and major webmails have extended their rules of conduct to control the reputation of emailers.

This control passes through 2 main levels:

The first level concerns authentication. This is the scan of the domain name that sends the email (from). This must be validated by a correct configuration of your DKIM signature and SPF record. These two technologies authenticate one or more IP addresses, such as Mailify's, as authorized to send emails from your domain name.

The second level refers to the site to which the links and images included in your email are directed. To measure the number of clicks on these links, emailing platforms set up redirection links using a domain name chosen by the sending platform. Ideally, these links should use the same domain name as your website.

By setting up your domain name in Mailify, you can customize your sending domain and behavioral tracking links.

This allows you not only to fully control your reputation as a sender, but also to optimize the success of your shipments.

In fact, the default domain names used for sending your campaigns and monitoring behavior are shared domains: they are not linked to your company name or activity and are used by all Mailify users who do not have a custom domain.

By customizing your domain you ensure that your emails are considered "secure" by ISPs and leading webmailers.

Avoid Identity Theft and Safeguard Your Image

You may have heard of identity theft. Those individuals who appropriate the identity of others to carry out fraudulent actions (e.g. purchases) under cover of a false identity.

Well, in e-mail, the same principle can apply.... It is very simple for an individual to create an address "" and pretend to be you. This type of address may seem suspicious to your readers but also to some anti-spam services.

ISPs (Internet Service Providers) and the main messaging clients (Outlook, Gmail, Yahoo, Orange, etc.) have adapted to this type of practice and have reinforced their anti-spam filtering policy.

In fact, why would they agree to give them emails that they thought were suspicious, and why would they allow emails from "" with links in the body of the message to all point to ""?

One of the criteria used to determine whether your email is legitimate or is considered spam is the consistency of the communication. If the sender's identity is not consistent with the content of your message (including links), it will receive a negative rating that will be added to the other criteria used to measure reliability.

In the example above, consistency would require that your emails come from a "" or "" mailing address with links to your website hosted under the "" domain.

Therefore, if you already have a "" site, you have every reason to want to use this domain (or a subdomain of the "" type) as the sender address of your mailings. It will be even more reassuring for ISPs, who will be more inclined to let your email go through their inbox, and for your recipients, because your sending domain will inspire confidence. They will be able to clearly identify your brand as the sender of the email and will be more likely to open your emails.
